モバイル用液晶ディスプレイとして，屋内外での視認性を向上させた高品位アドバンストTFT-LCDを開発した。このLCDは，屋内の表示品位では高コントラストで高輝度な表示品位を実現するとともに，屋外特に太陽光下でも視認性の優れた表示が得られることを特長としており，これからのモバイルディスプレイにふさわしい表示デバイスであるといえる。本稿では，この高品位アドバンストTFT-LCDのパネル構造や表示性能について解説する。
A novel TFT-LCD, that is called an advanced high quality transflective
TFT-LCD, for mobile applications has been developed. This LCD has
a novel structure compare to conventional transflective LCDs, and
achieves good visibility under the sun, in addition to high contrast
ratio and high transmittance indoors. The structure and optical characteristics
of this advanced high quality transflective TFT-LCD are described.
